Primum non nocere

First, do no harm – this maxim is the main ethical principle in medicine. Medical ethics is a set of moral principles that apply values and judgments to the practice of medicine. It comprehends medical responsibility, deontological ethics, and material value-ethics. Many principles of deontology published by the colleges of physicians were selected from the Hippocratic oath. Adherence to the highest hygienic standards, preventing the possibility of infection, using solely scientifically proven procedures in patient treatment, using bioinert and biocompatible materials and educating on new findings in their field are the responsibility of each physician.

Social Responsibility

Social responsibility is responsibility to the poor, weak and defenseless. We invite you to participate in a program to support vulnerable individuals and organizations we support – SOS Children’s Village Croatia, Home for Children, UNICEF, Artists who paint with the mouth and feet, A Step in Life, participation in the purchase of equipment for the Holy Spirit Hospital in Zagreb, Department of ear, throat and nose, participation in equipping the Operating room for children with special needs at the Osijek Hospital, and DEBRA – Together for Children butterflies.

Financial Responsibility

Financial responsibility plays an important role in treatment. The development of modern medical technology often leads to a mismatch between the cost of therapeutic procedures and possibility of application. Therefore, a key role in making a treatment plan includes determining medical and functional priorities. Defining medical priorities should be essential in developing a plan of treatment or therapy. Exceptions may be explicitly requested by the patient in accordance with their convictions, with all discernment by the doctor.

Patient Rights

The main principles of patient rights are; the right to be informed, the right to participate in decision-making, the right to refuse treatment, and the right to the protection of personal and medical information. Patients must be adequately informed of the diagnostic procedures and tests, risks, dangers, and eventual complications in therapy in accord with a physician that will aid them in making the right decisions. As a legal obligation, all such information should be exchanged in a consultation or written in an informed consent. All information discovered by the doctor is considered a secret which they are obliged to keep even after the patient’s passing.

Environmental Awareness

Working on protecting of the environment is one of the duties of the physician in his or her community. The introduction of the ISO 14001 standard, or green standard, is a fight for ecological sustainability and environmental activism. The ISO 14001 standard was introduced in order to regulate their practices and procedures according to the principles of environmental protection. In addition to preventive measures which combat the emergence and spread of disease, treatment of biomedical waste, prevention of environmental pollution and the application of control and treatment of chemical and bio materials, our actions make us socially engaged in the protection and promotion of the environment in an urban community.

Holistic Dentistry

Teeth are an integral part of the body and general health, and dental health has a great effect on other ailment processes in the body. When we examine our patients, we analyze their system as a whole, the teeth and gums being a representation of overall health. In place of materials traditionally used in dental repairs and restorations, such as mercury-containing amalgams, we use biomaterials which are a healthy alternative. Our care includes digital x-rays with lower exposure, caries detection with Diagnodent lasers and patient education for the prevention of future problems. The treatment must be in equilibrium with the muscles, jaw joints and all dental structures.
